Clinical trial on artificial blood cells to begin in Japan

A clinical study of artificial red blood cells that can be stored for transfusions in times of emergency will begin in Japan by next March,

This is so cool, the artificial blood can be stored for 2 years while normal blood can only be stored for about a month.

And it’s still made using human blood, using expired donations. The hemoglobin molecules are “encapsulated in protective lipid shells to create artificial red blood cells. They can transport oxygen throughout the body like normal. The trials showed no significant side effects

Unfortunately it might be about 2030 before it’s in regular use, depending on trials and studies, but this is incredible.

It can solve shortages throughout the world, and without the risk of viruses and blood transmitted diseases.

I worked on Kpop Demon Hunters for about a year and a half and it’s finally coming out on netflix tomorrow! yay!
